The Last Will and Testament of my Former Self

Dear ____,
The years of your youth are coming to a close with the eve of adulthood making itself present in your shadow. The days you spent playing with fresh, new toys and planting yourself securely in front of the television waiting for your favorite shows to come on in grandeur are fading. Those days are watching your life from beyond the spotlight; the joy of old memories becoming present in your mind once more are nothing but a taste of the sweet nostalgia that was blind to our eyes the entire time. The mistakes you made are there too, trapped in a cell, reaching out to grasp for your attention in order to leave just a sliver of remembrance, which results in hours of dwelling over the horrifying past. To the others reading my letter, it doesn’t matter whether you relate to these feelings or not. All you must do is hold on to the memories that are locked inside that cranium of yours. Cherish and relish them, because if you forget, you’ll forget how you got to where you are in the first place. All the past is, is a story we like to tell ourselves.
Peace,
yourself
